Available Printers Registry entry

Specifies which printers are available to Vitalware users / groups.

Usage

This Registry entry can be assigned to users and groups:

KeyUserGroupGroup
Key 1UserGroupGroup
Key 2usergroupDefault
Key 3Table
Key 4Default
Key 5Available Printers
Key 6type
Valueprinter;printer;...

where:

type

is a printer type listed in the Printer Types Registry entry, or it can be set to Default (covering all types of printers, e.g. Certificate, Receipt, etc.).

Note: If no specific purpose printers are used (i.e. we only have printers of type Default), it is not necessary to have a corresponding Printer Types Registry entry.

printer;printer;...

is a semicolon separated list of printer names.

Examples

This entry specifies available printers for the Counter group:

KeySetting
Key 1 Group
Key 2 Counter
Key 3 Table
Key 4 Default
Key 5 Available Printers
Key 6 Default
Value lp31;lp32;lp33;lp34

Members of group Counter are able to use any of four printers: lp31, lp32, lp33 and lp34. These printers could be any type of printer e.g. Certificate, Receipt, etc.).

This entry specifies available Certificate printers for the Counter group:

KeySettingDescription
Key 1 Group
Key 2 Counter
Key 3 Table
Key 4 Default
Key 5 Available Printers
Key 6 CertificateThe Certificate type must be specified in a Printer Types registry entry.
Value lp31;lp33

Group Counter is able to print certificates on lp31 and lp33. It is not possible to print anything other than certificates on these two printers.

This entry specifies the available Receipt printers for the Counter group using the POS module:

KeySetting
Key 1 Group
Key 2 Counter
Key 3 Table
Key 4 epos
Key 5 Available Printers
Key 6 Receipt
Value Star SCP700 (Receipt);\\\\BDMADMIN\\lp31;\\\\BDMADMIN\\lp33

In this case there are three receipt printers available to group Counter.

Note that these printer definitions are for Windows printers. In the above example the Star SCP700 (Receipt) printer is assumed to be connected locally, while lp31 and lp33 are on the network and accessible to Windows. For these printers to function correctly the operator must add the printers locally through the Windows Add Printer facility.
